Pericard eyes City recall
11 Oct 2007 - 12:53:18
Troubled Stoke City striker Vincent Pericard has vowed to knuckle down in training and prove that he deserves a recall to the first team.
The 25-year-old was jailed earlier this year for perverting the course of justice over a motoring offence.
But, after making a goalscoring return for the club's reserve side on Wednesday, the former Juventus and Portsmouth striker is hoping to play his way back into manager Tony Pulis' plans.
"I am very, very pleased with how it went. I was really looking forward to the game," he told the club's official website.
"I had a few chances in the game and it was a relief for me to see it go in the back of the net."
"I will give my all in training. I will be in all this week because I want to get myself going again.
"The other lads are doing very well at the moment, but it is up to me to show that I deserve a place by training well and scoring goals when I get the chance."
