Lawrence faces second scan

Stoke City midfielder Liam Lawrence is set to have a second scan on a troublesome ankle injury.

The 26-year-old has not featured for the Potters since their 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Chelsea, having tripped over his pet dog while climbing down stairs one night.

Lawrence had hoped that the problem would clear up quickly, but is now less optimistic.

He told The Sentinel: "I'm going to get another scan because I'm not happy with it.

"It seems to be taking longer to get right than these things should. I'm usually a decent healer, but this is slow.

"I'm sick of going to the gym every day, not being able to train properly and missing the other lads with all their banter.

"I've turned an ankle before and been out for just a couple of weeks, but this one feels different to anything I've had before.

"We'll probably give it a few more days' treatment to see if it improves, but if not then I'll go for another scan to see if there's something else in there."
