Griffin targets Potters deal
11 Dec 2006 - 12:43:20
Stoke City loanee Andy Griffin is hoping to earn a permanent return to the Championship promotion hopefuls in the January transfer window.
Twenty-seven-year-old Griffin, who started his career with the Potters, has returned to Portsmouth after an impressive three-month stint with City, but hopes to be back at Stoke in the near future.
He told The Sentinel: "Hopefully something can materialise.
"Whether permanent or a loan until the end of the season, I'm not sure. But let's be positive, optimistic and see what January brings.
"I would be willing to sit down with the chairman and manager to talk over a permanent deal with this club.
"It's a club that means a lot to me and I'd be happy here."
Griffin scored twice in 17 outings for City in his most recent spell with the club, having previously left the Potteries in January 1998 to join Newcastle United for £1.5million.
