Stoke City hope to bring a new goalkeeper to the club after Sunderland recalled Marton Fulop from his loan spell at the Britannia Stadium.
The 24-year-old Hungary international only joined the Potters last week, but the Premier League side have been forced to curtial the loan arrangement after Darren Ward sustained an injury.
City's director of football, John Rudge, told the club's official website: "We're obviously disappointed that Marton's been recalled, but there's nothing we can do about that.
"Hopefully we'll sign another goalkeeper some time today, in time for tonight's game at Preston North End."
Fulop was an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town.
