Dog trip sidelines Lawrence

Stoke City midfielder Liam Lawrence could miss Sunday's clash with Portsmouth after injuring his ankle while stepping over his dog.

Lawrence, 26, has made seven appearances for the Potters this season but could be set for a spell on the sidelines following the freak domestic accident.

"He's stepped over his dog on the stairs and his ankle just gave way and he went over on it," manager Tony Pulis told the club's official website.

"The initial scan has shown no break but we've sent him back for another X-ray to make sure.

"It could be a big blow for us, but hopefully it isn't too bad.

"We don't know how serious it is at the moment. He may be okay for Portsmouth then again he may not be fit. We'll have to wait and see."
