Defender Huth faces FA charge
19 Oct 2009 - 16:06:17
The Football Association has charged Stoke City defender Robert Huth with violent conduct following an unfortunate incident during Saturday's 2-1 victory against West Ham United.
Huth appeared to lash out at Hammers defender Matthew Upson as the two men waited in the penalty area for a free-kick.
The referee did not punish the German defender who seemed to catch Upson with his right arm, the Hammers star only being able to return to the action after several minutes of intensive treatment.
Former Chelsea and Middlesbrough defender Huth has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge which will be considered by a Regulatory Commission on Thursday.
After the game Potters boss Tony Pulis had said of the incident: "I'll have a look at it and, obviously, if he's done it, we'll speak to him and deal with him in-house.
"I thought the back four were very good but, if he's done that, it's a disappointment."
The incident marred another fine display by Pulis' side as they moved into the top half of the table thanks to James Beattie's brace.
