Crouch Hopes for England Recall

Published: 15 Feb 2012 - 12:25:58

Fabio Capello's resignation has left Stoke striker Peter Crouch with hope that he may get a recall to the national squad.

The Italian showed little interest in Crouch while he was in charge of the England team, even though he has a very good scoring record in an England shirt.

The last time Crouch stepped out for the national team was in 2010 when England were defeated by France in a friendly.

But now Capello has gone there is more than a good chance of Crouch’s old boss at Spurs and Portsmouth, Harry Redknapp, taking over and that just might open the door for the tall one.

"I've not been in the last few squads,"Crouch said.

"Whoever takes over hopefully will start picking me again but it's only what you do for your club that warrants getting in the England set-up again so I've got to play well for Stoke, score goals and hopefully that will come."
