Coates Likes The Idea Of Redknapp

Published: 09 Feb 2012 - 14:51:05

Stoke City chairman and FA councillor Peter Coates has gone along with public opinion by saying that he would like to see Harry Redknapp installed as the next England manager.

Fabio Capello resigned from the job yesterday, leaving the FA to find the next man for the England hot-seat and the choice of the people is the current Tottenham boss.

Redknapp is also the bookies favourite with odds being slashed and one bookie, Paddy Power, have already paid out on the bet.

A man who knows about the England football set up and a bit about betting, is Mr Coates and he believes that Harry is the man.

He further revealed that he tried to get Redknapp to come to Stoke when he was the manager of Bournemouth.

"I did try to get him before he went to West Ham," he told the Sentinel. "I spotted him early.

"I would be very happy with Harry Redknapp if he took the England job. He has earned it over a long period of time and produced a lot of good teams.

"But this is all premature at the moment because we don't know if he would take the job now, or whether Spurs would accept losing him."
