en Marshall and Diego Arismendi scored two apiece as a Stoke XI beat Newport YMCA 6-1 in their third pre-season friendly on Sunday.[LNB] Stoke had been held to a 1-1 draw by Newport County on Saturday, but a younger Potters side had no such problem 24 hours later.[LNB]Marshall scored the opener after 18 minutes and doubled his tally on the half-hour mark following a pass from Matthew Lund, who was his partner in attack.[LNB]John Pardue pulled one back for the hosts with a superb 30-yard effort five minutes before half-time but Lund restored Stoke's two-goal advantage within 90 seconds with a close-range header.[LNB]Arismendi increased the lead with two well-struck goals after the interval before Rory Delap, on as a substitute, made it 6-1 three minutes from time.[LNB]Carlo Nash then saved a last-minute penalty from Niall Yeates. Nash played the entire 90 minutes with Thomas Sorensen again failing to make an appearance.[LNB]New signing Jonathan Woodgate is expected to make his debut for the club against Newcastle Town on Wednesday or Brentford on Friday.[LNB]Stoke XI: Nash; Wilkinson, Shotton, Collins, Dickinson; Soares, Diao (Delap 61), Arismendi, Tonge (Pugh 74); Lund, Marshall (Shawcross 74).
