Stoke defender Marc Wilson has provided Matthew Etherington with encouragement as he attempts to battle back from injury in time to play in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 14. Nine days after helping Stoke book a return trip to Wembley with the opening goal in their 5-0 semi-final victory over Bolton, influential winger Etherington tore a hamstring in the first half of the 3-0 Premier League win over Wolves. The 23-year-old said of Etherington: "Hopefully he's got a good chance. I think for the semis I was in the same position as he was and I ended up making it so hopefully he can do the same thing and get himself back for the final. "He's been different class for us this year and he gives the team a lot. He's a strong character. He's got to be. If he was to miss it he'd be devastated and everyone at the club is willing him to get back as soon as possible. "I had a little bit longer, I had three weeks and I think he had 18 days, but I think he's got every chance."
