Tonge wants to leave Stoke

Stoke midfielder Michael Tonge admits his future lies away from the Britannia Stadium.

The 27-year-old has failed to make an impression under Tony Pulis having played just 14 times since joining from Sheffield United two years ago and he has not featured in a Barclays Premier League match since February 2009.

"I'd like to be playing again this season, but it looks as though it might be elsewhere," Tonge, who spent last season on loan at Championship sides Preston and Derby, told The Sentinel.

"I am in a bit of a strange situation but I'll be at Stoke getting fit for the new season and will speak to the manager.

"I am not complaining about that, just being realistic.

"I'm certainly not sulking about my situation. From my point of view, I want to get fit for the new season and see what happens."
