Thomas Sorensen thinks about new Stoke contract offer

Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has revealed he has been offered a new contract by Stoke but is weighing up his options before he accepts it.[LNB]The 35-year-old has been with the Staffordshire outfit since 2008, but over the last year has slipped behind Asmir Begovic in the pecking order, tending only to feature in cup matches.[LNB] Rare: Sorensen's appearances have been limited[LNB]'Stoke have given me a contract offer. It is something I have to consider,' said the Danish custodian.[LNB]The Potters' progress to the FA Cup final last season and participation in the Europa League this term has seen Sorensen get fairly regular action.[LNB]However, the Denmark stopper knows the games could dry up for him if Stoke exit those competitions - they are already out of the Carling Cup - and he does not want to spend the build-up to Euro 2012 sat on the bench.[LNB]'If we have a long run in the Europa League and the FA Cup in the spring, there will be many games for me,' Sorensen said.[LNB] Replacement: Begovic has performed well in Sorensen's stead[LNB]'But you can't be sure of that - and towards the European Championships, of course, I would like to play some games.'[LNB]Sorensen last played in the league for Stoke in May 2011 in what was, for the Potters, essentially a meaningless game against Man City at the end of the season.[LNB]Prior to that he had not appeared in the league since a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in October 2010.
