Ajax Amsterdam winger Peter Hoekstra has made a shock move to Second Division side Stoke City, signing a two-year deal at the Britannia Stadium. The former PSV Eindhoven and Rangers star has found it difficult to break into the first-team at Ajax ever since his move from PSV in 1995.Hoekstra was bought by the Dutch giants to replace Marc Overmars but failed to live up to expectations, making just 20 appearances and scoring five goals. In the last two seasons the 28-year-old former Holland international has been loaned out to Spanish Segunda Liga side Compostela and Dutch side FC Groningen.Hoekstra won five caps for the Dutch national team in the early 90s.
