Stoke's Ryan Shawcross will not be sold on the cheap, says Tony Pulis
Manchester City's new manager Roberto Mancini is understood to have expressed the most interest in the 22 year-old with Tottenham and Liverpool also considering making offers. [LNB]But according to the Express, Stoke City have put a £20 million price-tag on Shawcross' shoulders in a bid to keep admirers at bay. [LNB]The inflated valuation is a far cry from the £1million Stoke paid Manchester United for Shawcross two years ago, but Pulis believes he is essential to the club's future plans and that he could still play a part in Fabio Capello's England squad for the World Cup 2010. [LNB]"We have made it clear he is going nowhere," said Pulis. "He is a talented lad who has an important part to play at this club."[LNB]Pulis added that though he does not want to part company with his defender, everyone has their price, and it would ultimately be foolish of the club to overlook substantial offers. [LNB]"If someone comes in and offers an absolute fortune for Ryan Shawcross then that is the way it works - you have to look at it," he said. [LNB]Also rumoured to be set for a move away from Stoke is Tomas Sorensen, who is attracting interest from Europe. [LNB]Much like with Shawcross, Pulis explained that a substantial offer would be hard to turn down, but he remains confident that his goalkeeper is happy at the Britannia Stadium. [LNB]"Thomas has trained yesterday and trained today and he has not said anything to me," he said. "You can't stop speculation but Thomas is under contract. If anybody wanted to sign Thomas they would have to speak to the football club."[LNB]
