A strong Stoke side were held to a 0-0 draw by Notts County at Meadow Lane on Thursday, while a more youthful outfit won 2-1 at Nantwich.[LNB] Tony Pulis took the majority of his first-team squad to Nottingham, surprisingly including James Beattie, but Abdoulaye Faye missed out through injury.[LNB]Beattie was one of the more impressive performers for the Potters but neither he nor his team-mates could find a way through.[LNB]Meanwhile, a Stoke line-up containing a mixture of youth and fringe players claimed a 2-1 victory at the Weaver Stadium thanks to Louis Moult's first-half double.[LNB]Moult slotted in his first from 15 yards, with the second a delicate finish from close range following a Ben Marshall cross.[LNB]The game ended on a high for Nantwich as Jake Sedgemore curled in a 35-yard free-kick.[LNB]Stoke v Notts County: Begovic; Huth, Collins, Shawcross, Higginbotham; Lawrence, Delap, Whelan, Etherington; Sidibe, Tuncay. Subs: Sorensen, Whitehead, Pugh, Tonge, Wilkinson, Fuller, Beattie.[LNB]Stoke v Nantwich: St Louis-Hamilton; Shotton, Davies, Sonko, Dickinson; Soares, Lund, Cuvellier, Marshall; Moult, Kitson.
