Stoke City poised to sign Man City Starlet on loan

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is set to sign Manchester City youngster John Guidetti on loan tomorrow following Stephen Ireland's permanent switch.

The Potters boss has agreed to take over Ireland's contract until the end of the season and can now concentrate on bringing in new faces and Guidetti is top of that list.

The 21-year-old is also wanted by West Ham, Malaga and Real Betis but Stoke look like the most likely to gain the strikers signature.

Hughes will remember Guidetti from his time as Man City manager and hopes that he can convince him to come to The Britannia Stadium and be the missing fire power they desire.

The Swedish U21 international scored 20 goals in 23 games whilst on-loan at Feyenoord back in 2011-12, just the kind of power up front Stoke have been lacking in the first half of this season, having scored less than 20 goals in The Premier League.

The Welshman is still thinking of bringing in another striker after Guidetti after Crystal Palace have been named as a team interested in Peter Crouch and Jon Walters and Cardiff City look likely to make an offer for Kenwyne Jones despite Hughes saying Crouch and Jones would be going no where this window.
