Stoke can go all the way - Walters
Stoke forward Jon Walters believes the Potters have a strong enough squad to win the Carling Cup this season if they get past Fulham tonight.[LNB] Walrers was one of several new players to arrive at the Britannia Stadium during the summer transfer window and scored his first goal for the club in last month's Carling Cup second round victory against Shrewsbury.[LNB]Having picked up a knock to his ankle in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Ham, Walters may well be rested in the third round against Fulham tonight, and the 27-year-old feels Tony Pulis has enough options at his disposal for the side to make a big impact in the competition.[LNB]"When you look at our squad, we have a realistic chance of going all the way," Walters told the club's official website.[LNB]"The cup competitions are fantastic for the players because they give you an opportunity to do something special and possibly go on to win some silverware.[LNB]"You obviously need the luck of the draw, but we do have the quality here to cause any team problems, and when the game is a one-off, anything can happen."[LNB]He added: "We would love to go to Wembley, play in a final and win major honours, which is what you want as a professional footballer.[LNB]"Whether it is this season or another season, hopefully I can help this football club to achieve something."[LNB]Fulham demonstrated their cup pedigree by reaching last season's Europa League final, and with Mark Hughes' side still unbeaten this term, Walters is expecting them to provide a stern test.[LNB]"They have some very good players, so we know how difficult it is going to be," Walters said.[LNB]"They have had a decent start to the season, and they know how to handle cup competitions. Just look at how they performed last season in Europe."[LNB]Walters was one of three Stoke players to come off with an injury at the weekend, along with Kenwyne Jones (groin) and Jermaine Pennant (hamstring).[LNB]Potters assistant manager Dave Kemp has confirmed that none of the cases were serious and that if not for tonight's game, the trio should be in contention for Sunday's trip to Newcastle in the Premier League.
