Southampton V Stoke: Potters Look To Push On From Famous Victory Over United

08 February 2014 09:03

Southampton host Stoke City at St Mary's in tomorrow afternoon's Premier League clash, with the Potters coming off a confidence boosting win over Manchester United last week and the Saints on a four-match unbeaten run.

Stoke had lost four games on the bounce before the Man United game but the three points last weekend have seen Mark Hughes' side climb up from the bottom end of the table and currently reside in 11th.

Mauricio Pochettino's side come into the game off the back of their 3-0 win at Fulham following a draw with Arsenal the week before and currently sit in the top half of the table in 9th place.

Team News

Southampton have Victor Wanyama available after overcoming a knock he sustained in last weekends game against Fulham, although Calum Chambers is doubt after suffering from a dead leg. Sam Gallagher is absent following a family bereavement, while Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramírez remain out.

Meanwhile, Stoke's Marko Arnautovic and Jonathan Walters will face late fitness checks after both picking up knocks against United, Marc Wilson is also a doubt with a chest infection.

Steven Nzonzi is available after suspension but Andy Wilkinson, Matthew Etherington and Robert Huth remain sidelined.

Stats

All three previous meetings between these teams in the Premier League have ended in draws.

Southampton have taken eight points from their last four Premier League games.

Charlie Adam has scored three of Stoke’s last four Premier League goals.

The Potters have gone eight games without a clean sheet in the Premier League.

Prediction

The last match between the two sides saw Asmir Begovic score a 95 yard goal from his own penalty area, to help Stoke to the 1-1 draw in November. There will be no repeat of his heroics tomorrow and given Stoke's record on the road and Southampton's home record, a draw is the best the Potters can hope for.

Southampton 2-2 Stoke City
