Soares heads back to Stoke

Tom Soares has returned to Stoke after Charlton opted against extending his loan deal at The Valley. The former Crystal Palace man made 11 appearances during his time with the Addicks, scoring one goal. He had been enjoying the opportunity to play regular first-team football after failing to make an impact at Stoke following a summer switch. However, with Charlton seemingly doomed to relegation from the Championship, Phil Parkinson has decided to let Soares go. "Tom did well for us but he's going to go back," boss Parkinson told the South London Press. Soares will now be hoping to help the Potters secure survival in the Premier League, with their top-flight status still hanging in the balance.
