Stoke defender Ryan Shotton has signed a two-year contract extension at the Britannia Stadium, committing him to the club until 2013. The 21-year-old has had loan spells at Tranmere and Barnsley in the past two seasons. "There has been some interest in me but the manager (Tony Pulis) wanted me to keep me here, he has shown great faith in my ability and I certainly wanted to stay," said Shotton, a product of Stoke's academy. "I am still young and I still have a lot to learn in the game and there is no better place to do that than at Stoke." Chief executive Tony Scholes added: "While a considerable amount of attention has been focused on the major signings we have made during the summer transfer window, the development of our younger players is also vital to the club's future."
