Adam got his first Potters goal by slamming home the winner from Jon Walters' flick-on in the 1-0 victory over QPR at the Britannia Stadium on November 10. Pulis made it clear when he signed the Scotland midfielder from Liverpool on transfer deadline day this year that he was looking for goals from Adam, who expressed a keen desire himself to rediscover the good finishing form he had demonstrated for Blackpool but not for the Reds. And with the 26-year-old's Stoke duck now broken, his manager can see more goals following. Speaking ahead of Monday evening's Barclays Premier League clash with West Ham at Upton Park, Pulis said:
"We think Charlie is a good finisher and that he should be getting goals. You are hoping that it is another goalscorer in the team and he showed that on Saturday.
"What Charlie needs to get used to is getting up around there, but if we can get him in the final third, I think he will score goals for us."
Stoke - 14th in the table on 12 points - take on a West Ham side who are currently seventh having accrued an impressive total of 18 points from their 11 Premier League matches so far this season following their promotion via the npower Championship play-offs last term. It has been a considerable turnaround for the Hammers since their relegation from the top flight in 2010-11 and quite the success story for Sam Allardyce, whose appointment as their boss in the summer of 2011 was not universally popular among the club's fans. The 58-year-old has frequently been criticised during his managerial career for employing what are perceived to be unattractive, long-ball tactics, despite his record indicating that the football his teams play is effective. And asked about Allardyce's critics, Pulis - who has faced accusations himself of using a negative playing style to get results - said: "Each to their own.
"I don't think he pays too much attention to what people do or do not think.
"He gets the job done and he has done a wonderful job at West Ham.
"It was very difficult for him. They played in the Championship, were the top team in the Championship and everyone would have wanted to knock them off their pedestal.
"It is difficult when it is like that, but he got them promoted in one season and they have had a great start this year."
