Pulis urges Potters to stay solid
Stoke's summer transfer activity has added more goals to the squad but Tony Pulis insists they still have to retain their defensive solidity.[LNB] The Potters boss has brought in forwards Kenwyne Jones, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jonathan Walters as well as Real Zaragoza and former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant and Portsmouth midfielder Marc Wilson.[LNB]They should all be involved in the squad for Monday night's Premier League visit of Aston Villa.[LNB]"We are looking forward to the game," said Pulis.[LNB]"Bringing the new players in has given the place a lift, it has given it the bubble it needs, and what we need now is a good performance and a good result.[LNB]"We have more options up front and to score goals, which has always been a major worry for us, but we have to make sure we stay nice and tight as a group.[LNB]"Over the two seasons of the Premier League we have had 26 clean sheets and we have to work hard to make sure we maintain that but we now have more quality and cutting edge up front.[LNB]"With Pennant and Gudjohnsen we are hoping they will give us that. Wilson can also score goals from midfield so we are hoping they will be able to add a bit more to us when we have the ball.[LNB]"But we won't play any differently, we will play to win.[LNB]"Sometimes the reputation we have for a certain style is unfair but I'm not bringing the players in to change the style or reputation or curry favour with people outside who say we do this or that.[LNB]"I will always do it the way I think is right and how it suits this club."[LNB]And just because he has bolstered his forward line in the transfer window that does not mean Pulis has forgotten the resources he already had at his disposal.[LNB]He hopes this will be the season when Tuncay Sanli comes into his own, having taken a while to find his feet at the Britannia Stadium since his £5million move from Middlesbrough just over a year ago which resulted in him continually being linked with a move.[LNB]"Ric and Tunny have been here for a while now and we have options so we are not closing the door on anyone," Pulis added.[LNB]"With Tunny he needed a year to settle in. We are delighted he has not gone anywhere - now we're hoping he will come back and have another year here understanding what is necessary and step up another gear, because he has that in his locker."[LNB]
