Pulis under no pressure to make money

Stoke chairman Peter Coates has assured Tony Pulis he is under no pressure to sell before spending the club's money this summer.[LNB] Stoke opened the Britannia Stadium exit door for the first time on Thursday morning when club captain Andy Griffin joined Reading and a number of fellow fringe players are expected to follow him.[LNB]Steve Simonsen is looking increasingly likely to join Sheffield United, Liam Lawrence is closing in on a move to Celtic, and the likes of James Beattie, Dave Kitson, Michael Tonge are also on the market.[LNB]Pulis, though, is not under pressure to trim his squad - despite the 25 player limit for next season - before he can buy.[LNB]Coates told the Stoke Sentinel: "We are looking to generate money from players going out, but we can still (make signings).[LNB]"There hasn't been all that much serious interest in players at any football club at this stage but I think that will change as the World Cup finishes. [LNB]"I would be surprised if we don't see some changes here with players coming in and out."[LNB]The first arrival is likely to be Joe Ledley after his contract at Cardiff expired today and Coates confirmed Pulis is "involved in progressing" the deal.[LNB]Pulis also wants to sign at least one striker - Carlton Cole, Emile Heskey and Andy Carroll are all targets - while further reinforcements will be sought in midfield.[LNB]Joe Ledley is expected to sign in the coming days after his contract at Cardiff expired and Pulis wants to follow up that signing with another midfielder, a winger and two strikers.[LNB]while the likes of Carlton Cole, Mark Noble, Emile Heskey, Andy Carroll
