Pulis predicts busy period for Potters

Tony Pulis is predicting a "very busy" couple of weeks for Stoke after admitting they are in desperate need of new players for the season.[LNB] Stoke have been typically slow in the transfer market over the summer but completed their first major capture, Kenwyne Jones, on Wednesday and hope to add more of similar quality before the end of the month.[LNB]Jon Walters has told Ipswich he wants to leave after interest from the Potters all summer, while Radoslav Kovac could add competition for places in midfield if the club can agree a deal with West Ham.[LNB]Pulis is looking to make at least four new signings in all and feels it is imperative he gets them in.[LNB]"The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy," he said.[LNB]"We need to bring players in, and we're trying to pursue all our options to make sure we're stronger.[LNB]"Bringing in Kenwyne has helped, but we're not as strong as we want to be, so we are starting behind the baseline a little, but that's what we have to deal with."[LNB]As far as the number one position is concerned, Pulis is blessed as he has Asmir Begovic, Thomas Sorensen and Carlo Nash to choose from.[LNB]Pulis rejected an enquiry this week from Chelsea for Begovic, who only joined Stoke from Portsmouth in February for £3.25million, but he is giving nothing away as to who will start as his number one.[LNB]He said: "I don't give a damn about what he (Sorensen) does for Denmark or anybody else.[LNB]"The only thing that worries me is what he does for Stoke, and he has been fantastic for us.[LNB]"The two of them are good competition for each other, and it's what you want, it's what all the top clubs have.[LNB]"You want as much competition as you can. We've Thomas' experience, Asmir's youth, so it's a great combination.[LNB]"Then there's Nashy, who is fantastic. What a professional.[LNB]"He is out there first thing every morning and he's the last one in. He's a good example to the other two.[LNB]"So it's one of the positions where I'm not sure who will start tomorrow, which is a nice headache to have."[LNB]While Pulis admits he has struggled to make signings this summer, he is still piching himself to find himself the manager of an established Premier League club.[LNB]"It's just a dream for me to be manager of this club. I've said it all along and I mean it - every morning I wake up I'm a privileged person," added the Welshman.[LNB]"I'm like that and I want the players to feel the same. It's vital we retain the level of enthusiasm, commitment and togetherness we have had over the years.[LNB]"As soon as we start to get blase then things will fall apart, so we have to stay solid, focused and not give a damn about what anybody else outside this city says or does.[LNB]"We stick together as a group, as a team, and if we can be as unified as we've been, then we'll continue to push forward.[LNB]"If we stay in the Premier League again that will be three years, and I really think you will see a massive improvement in the club.[LNB]"There are things we are putting in place that will help make this club a better club in the future.[LNB]"So give us this season, and by hook or by crook we stay in the league, then I think you'll see a really solid club next season."
