Stoke boss Tony Pulis has backed striker Jon Walters to make an impact on the international stage with the Republic of Ireland.[LNB] Walters, 28, is likely to be on the bench on Tuesday when the Republic face Armenia in their crucial final Euro 2012 qualifier, where they need to avoid defeat to secure a play-off place.[LNB]Former Ipswich frontman Walters has won just two caps, making his debut against Norway last year, but Pulis believes he is good enough to go on to win many more.[LNB]"We're always pleased to see our lads representing their country," Pulis told The Sentinel. "Jon has been a tremendous signing for us over the last 12 months and he can definitely have a role to play for his country.[LNB]"He has already formed a good partnership with Peter Crouch for us, so that just shows how well and how quickly he can adapt alongside other players.[LNB]"And I still think he can play wide as well as through the middle, both for club and for country."
