Owen Could Snub Stoke, But It Ain't Certain

Despite the ribbing that we took of our friend at ManUtdMAD the other day about Michael Owen and his move to Stoke, it now turns out that it might not be happening after all.

News broke on Goal.com yesterday that Owen was giving serious thought about an offer made from UAE club Al Shabaab.

Personally, I don’t really want Owen at Stoke, I would much rather get a younger man in the do the job, what could you seriously expect to get from Owen?

Nothing is certain, the lure of the cash out there may seem tempting, but there is the fact that he may not want to leave his stables and horses behind, not to mention uprooting his family.

A club spokesman said: "Michael Owen has been identified as a candidate to play for Shabab next season and we are in negotiations with his management team. The player's agent is in Dubai to close the deal.

"We are in talks with the player and his agent, but no agreement has yet been reached between the parties, things should become clear soon."
