McCarthy set to join West Ham after Blackburn agree £2.25m fee for striker

Benni McCarthy is on his way to West Ham after Blackburn accepted a fee of £2.25million for the striker.[LNB]McCarthy, who Rovers believe is in Spain after the 32-year-old missed training sessions on Friday and Monday, will now discuss personal terms with the Hammers.[LNB]The South African went AWOL after falling out with Sam Allardyce over his fitness and the Rovers boss takes his side to Upton Park on Saturday, after Tuesday night's trip to Portsmouth.[LNB] London calling: McCarthy is set to move to the capital with West Ham[LNB]Allardyce had little option but to agree a deal and plans to use the cash to sign Stoke's James Beattie.[LNB]The bust-up with Allardyce centred on McCarthy's weight and the player was angry at being ordered by him to do extra training sessions.[LNB]Raging: Rovers manager Allardyce[LNB]Allardyce had already condemned McCarthy as 'unprofessional' for staying away and said his conduct is symptomatic of selfishness and disloyalty shown by many players.[LNB]Allardyce said: 'What he's done is unprofessional but we will only do what is the best thing for Blackburn Rovers. It shows you that the only loyalty a player has got is to himself.[LNB]'This is what we deal with today in football, there's not such a thing as loyalty as there used to be in the older days when I was a player.[LNB]'It's more about a selfish attitude they have and that's not just about Benni, that's all players today.
