Ricardo Fuller would have accepted the sack from Stoke for slapping his own captain Andy Griffin the last time he faced West Ham.
Manager Tony Pulis let him off with a £20,000 fine and Fuller, whose side entertain West Ham today, said: 'If the club wanted to get rid of me I couldn't argue with them and demand to stay.
'But I think it helped the club. After that incident everyone rallied around.'
