Stoke defender Robert Huth believes England coach Fabio Capello was wrong to omit team-mate Ryan Shawcross in favour of some 'random choices' for last week's friendly defeat against France.[LNB]The 23-year-old has been called up for international duty on a couple of occasions but has yet to get on the pitch ahead of more experienced players. [LNB]For the squad against France, Capello selected the likes of Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Manchester City's Joleon Lescott, neither of whom have played as much first-team football this season as Shawcross.[LNB] In form: Fabio Capello's omission of Ryan Shawcross from the last time England squad shocked many, considering Chris Smalling made the cut[LNB]'I think everyone was a bit surprised,' Germany international Huth said. 'There were a few random choices. It is none of my business, but I think Ryan is a class act and a class player. Given time and the chances, he will probably play for England.'[LNB]Huth's thoughts were echoed by another international hopeful, Matthew Etherington. [LNB]The Stoke winger said: 'You will have to ask Capello why Ryan wasn't called up. Maybe it's because he plays for Stoke. It could be that reason as some players called up in his position raised a few eyebrows.' [LNB]Shawcross moved to the Britannia Staddium from Manchester United, without making a single top flight appearance for Sir Alex Ferguson's side. [LNB] Missed the bus: Shawcross has been included in previous squads but not made an appearance for England[LNB]Etherington believes it is only a matter of time before the defender finds his way back to the big time. [LNB]'Ryan's different class,' he added in The Sun. 'He's quick, reads the game and has ability on the ball. He'll be at a top-four club again.[LNB]'He definitely deserves a chance for England and wouldn't let anyone down. The longer we keep him, the better for Stoke.'[LNB]Shawcross added: 'England is a tough squad to break into and you must perform week in, week out. I'll carry on what I'm doing.' [LNB] West Brom 0 Stoke 3: It's time to pick Shawcross, Pulis tells CapelloRamsey to feature for Arsenal reserves against Everton as comeback steps upSunderland 2 Stoke 0: Gyan hits two as Black Cats begin to ease derby painSTOKE CITY FC
