Fabio Capello gives his seal of approval to Potters' progress
England boss Fabio Capello has given Stoke's progress this season his seal of approval.[LNB]The Potters currently lie 10th in the Barclays Premier League on 43 points, having staved off the dreaded second season syndrome.[LNB]And ahead of today's clash with Bolton, boss Tony Pulis revealed his work has caught the eye of the national team manager.[LNB]He said: 'I went to the Chelsea game on Tuesday and Fabio was there. He always asks about the team and everything and he was very complimentary about what we have done here.[LNB]'He said we have had a good season and everything else. He was very complimentary.''[LNB]Thumbs up: Capello[LNB]Now Pulis would love Capello to turn his positive words into actions by handing Ryan Shawcross and Matty Etherington World Cup call-ups.[LNB]Shawcross has already been part of the England squad, whilst Etherington's blistering season has seen his star rise.[LNB]And although Capello talked up Adam Johnson's chances of a spot on the plane for South Africa in the summer, Pulis claims fellow left-winger Etherington has also been mentioned in well placed circles.[LNB]He added: 'I won't be telling him to pick Ryan or Matty. He has enough on his plate with other people poking their noses in - especially other managers.[LNB]'In fact the England manager have never mentioned Ryan or Matty to me but other people have. [LNB]'Fabio Capello has a group of 18 players that are stick ons and then he has four or five he will make his mind up as he goes along and the ball is in everybody's court now.Pulis could be excused for giving some of his fringe players a run-out as the season winds down.[LNB]But he intends to stick to the rules and field the strongest side available as he is acutely aware Stoke could yet help decide the destiny of the title.[LNB]He added: 'We have a responsibility to other clubs. We play Chelsea and Manchester United so we have responsibility to field strong teams. We could have a big say in the title race.'[LNB]
