Crocked Ryan pulls out of U21s

Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross has withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad to face Norway and France after picking up an injury. Shawcross and Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will miss the games after pulling out because of injuries. The City defender was handed a belated call-up to the Under-21 side after Newcastle United's Steven Taylor pulled out after picking up an injury in the Magpies' 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday. Shawcross made his Under-21 debut for England in March last year when he played the first 65 minutes of a goalless friendly against Poland at Molineux. The 21-year-old former Manchester United reserve played for Welsh schools in his youth, but only because he went to school over the border.
