Asmir Craving Top Keeper Spot.

13 July 2012 14:41
Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is hoping that the new season will be a big and successful one for himself and the club.

Back in pre-season training, the Bosnian is eager to show Tony Pulis that he would be very unwise not to make him his first choice keeper for Premier League games.

But the keeper also knows that Thomas Sorensen is going to give him a run for his money as he eyes the number one spot.

But that just makes Asmir more determined to win the battle for the place between the sticks.

Speaking to Stoke’s official site www.stokecity.com, the keeper said: "I think I did pretty well last season and I ended the season as the number one, so hopefully that remains to be the case.

"Obviously, Thomas will want to play just as much as I do, but we will have to wait and see what the manager decides.

"I am desperate to play games, and I will be doing everything I can in pre-season training and in the matches to make sure I get that starting spot."
