3 years ago today: Keane fury at Stoke

31 July 2011 10:48
Sunderland boss Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Stoke following the collapse of the Marton Fulop transfer. Fulop had been Tony Pulis' number one goalkeeping target through the summer, but yesterday he turned to former Aston Villa stopper Thomas Sorensen.Earlier in the week Fulop had met with Stoke to talk terms after a £3m fee had been agreed, and Keane appeared to suggest the Fulop was being excessive in his demands by saying he had asked for first team football but then had asked for too much money. However, after the deal finally collapsed today, Keane changed his mind and turned his anger on Stoke instead by saying they should negotiate with a player and move towards his salary. Stoke on the other hand had made an offer and were sticking to it.In this day of player power it is good to see a club not moving to player's demands and sticking to their guns.
