Rapid striker in City sights Stoke plan to swoop at ther eleventh hour to snatch striker Nikica Jelavic from Austrian side Rapid Vienna. Jelavic has agreed personal terms with Scottish giants Rangers, after the two clubs settled on a £4m fee, but the move has hit a snag as his current club want to play him in their Europa League tie against Aston Villa this Thursday, stating they don't have time to replace him, and this would also cup tie Jelavic should Rangers drop into the Europa League themselves after the Champions League group stage. Whilst the two clubs try are at loggerheads, with Rangers insisting they will walk away should he play Thursday night, the Potters are looking likely to step in and sign the Croatian international as the transfer window nears its climax and City still searching for more firepower.
