Williams appeal succeeds

Stockport County have won their appeal to the Football Association against Ashley Williams' red card in Tuesday's League Two clash at MK Dons.

Williams is now clear to play in Saturday's match against Darlington at Edgeley Park.

County boss Jim Gannon told the club's official website: "I'm obviously delighted that we've won the appeal, particularly for Ashley whose performances and, in particular, his conduct, have been exemplary this season.

"The decision has also renewed my confidence that managers can place their trust in the appeal procedure knowing that the FA and Referee's Association will listen to constructive dialogue and try to repair wrong situations."
