Ward disputes late Saddlers goal

Published: 14 Apr 2009 - 11:15:23

With the game looking like heading for a predictable draw, Stockport goalkeeper Conrad Logan handed Walsall the win in stoppage time when he got the final touch on a cross from Jabo Ibehre. Ward watched on in agony after Greg Tansey's first senior goal looked like it had earned his side a point after Anthony Gerrard's early opener for the visitors. Ward said: "We didn't deserve that. We did enough to have drawn, maybe enough to have even won the game. "I felt the late goal was a bit harsh on us. It looked like a clear foul on the keeper but the ref missed it. "The ball has just rebounded off Conrad's shoulder and dropped in, but it should have been a free-kick."
