Stockport County striker Peter Thompson is hoping to kickstart his Hatters career after scoring his first goal for the club in the 2-2 draw with Cheltenham Town.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international has taken time to adjust to life in League One, but believes that more goals will come.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "It's nice to get off and running.

"As a striker you want to get in there and get chances and maybe that's been disappointing from my point of view that I haven't been getting in the right positions.

"I know with the quality in the squad that the other players will put the ball in the right areas, so it's up to me to get goals.

"That's especially true in the six-yard box where most of the goals in my career have come from."
