The proposed takeover of Stockport by Jim Melrose has not been finalised and he is still waiting for the green-light from Edgeley Park owners Cheshire Sport, the holding company of Guinness Premiership outfit Sale. With just days to go before the players are due to report back for the start of pre-season training, the Hatters still have no board, no manager, no ground and a depleted squad. A creditors' meeting is set to take place on July 3 and Jennings said: "Discussions are ongoing and Cheshire Sport are awaiting confirmation that the Melrose Consortium will be in a position to capitalise the football club on the terms agreed. "It is critically important that the new owners of Stockport County have sufficient funding to ensure that the football club can stand on its own two feet."
