Raynes commits to County

Stockport County defender Michael Raynes has signed a new contract that will keep him at Edgeley Park until the end of the 2009-10 season.

The 20-year-old has been a regular in County's first team for the last three seasons and has now made 76 appearances for the club.

Boss Jim Gannon told the club's official website: "Michael's a fantastic person and a fantastic defender.

"I had no qualms about making him captain against Grimsby and I'm disappointed for him that he didn't lead the team to victory.

"We've been negotiating with Michael for quite a while now and I'm delighted to announce that he signed his contract until 2010."
