Melrose deal for Hatters not dead

The Hatters suffered a blow earlier this month when the consortium, led by former Manchester City player Jim Melrose, had a bid to buy the club rejected by the Football League. Yet County's administrators say the Melrose bid has not been discounted and that they remain in the hunt to buy the club. They said in a statement: "A statement was made in the media recently which claimed that the Melrose Consortium failed the Football League's fit and proper test. "We would like to clarify that this statement was not issued by Leonard Curtis or by the Football League and the Melrose Consortium are continuing to progress their interest. "We have received a number of other enquiries, however, and are still actively seeking interest for the club in order to maximise the prospects of concluding a sale."
