McNulty rejects Seagulls

Stockport County left-back Jim McNulty has rejected the chance to join League One rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 29-year-old former Macclesfield Town and Wrexham defender was a reported £150,000 target for the Seagulls, but McNulty has opted to stay put for now.

He said: "I was told last week that I could talk to Brighton, but I turned the chance down. There are a number of factors involved in a move.

"One was that Brighton was a long way from my home and another was that County are in a much better position and pushing for the play-offs."

McNulty has scored once in 44 appearances for the Hatters.
