Maguire defends Pilkington sale

Published: 29 Jan 2009 - 16:29:52

Pilkington moved to Huddersfield last Friday for a "lucrative" sum and Maguire believes the extra cash should be enough to stave off any further problems for the League One outfit. Maguire has recently held talks with Stockport Council about producing a "closer and mutually beneficial" relationship. He told the Manchester Evening News: "Administration is further from the truth than it was two weeks ago, and has got even less likely. "We have a strong relationship with the Inland Revenue. This all came about because we said it was necessary to sell players in the transfer window. "That has happened with Anthony Pilkington and that has taken us nearer where we want to be."
