    Hatters would permit exits

    05 Jan 2009 - 14:08:13

Stockport County chairman Martin Reid claims he would not stand in the way of Jim Gannon should he be offered a managerial job at a higher division club.

Gannon, who led the Hatters to promotion to League One via the play-offs last summer, has been regularly linked with vacancies at Championship clubs.

Meanwhile, the club have also released a statement revealing they will consider serious offers for any of their leading players from "clubs at a higher level".

Reid told the club's official website: "Jim deserves the compliment of being associated with available jobs in the Championship and, as a club, Stockport County would support him wholeheartedly in securing a move which his achievements merit.

"However, Jim remains County manager. He is fully committed and has a comprehensive plan to remain competitive in League One and help take the club forward in these challenging financial times."

Elsewhere, the Hatters are set to sign Liverpool defender Robbie Threlfall and Reading striker Dave Mooney on loan.
