The covers were frozen to the pitch and, after an inspection, the game was called off on Friday afternoon. Oldham boss Dave Penney was frustrated by the decision to call the game off and told the club's official website: "I want to come down and see the conditions for myself. "I just couldn't believe when they said there was a pitch inspection over 24 hours before the game. "It's not like we're talking about a long away-day with costs for the club like coaches and hotels or costs for the fans like trains and coaches. "It's only 15 minutes down the road and I personally think we could have waited longer for a decision to be made."
