    Hatters to leave administration

    06 Jul 2009 - 13:38:27

Stockport County are set to come out of administration after creditors and shareholders agreed to a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

The Hatters went into administration in April and saw manager Jim Gannon leave to take over at SPL side Motherwell last month.

However, following an agreement over a CVA, a takeover fronted by former Manchester City player Jim Melrose is poised to be given the go-ahead to rescue the League One club.

"The administrators are pleased to confirm that the Company Voluntary Arrangement proposal was approved at meetings of creditors and shareholders," read a club statement.

"It is understood that the Melrose Consortium is close to finalising a deal with the club's landlord, Cheshire Sports, and we will report further when this is concluded."
