Hatters snare new striker

Stockport County have signed Matty McNeil from local League Two rivals Macclesfield Town.

McNeil, 30, was out of contract at Moss Rose this summer and has agreed a one-year contract with the Hatters.

"County are a big club and I remember the first time I played at Edgeley Park for Macclesfield," he told the club's official website.

"There was a fantastic atmosphere, which really spurred me on to play well.

"I will bring a presence up front for the team. I am a good worker, I have a strong will to win, and I will hopefully score goals."
