Hatters hopeful over Gannon

Stockport County remain confident of agreeing a new contract with manager Jim Gannon.

Gannon is currently on a rolling one-year contract at Edgeley Park following his arrival in 2005, but admitted earlier in the week that he had rejected a new two-and-a-half year deal.

The former Hatters defender has been linked with the managerial vacancy at League One rivals Huddersfield Town.

"We'll hammer out a contract and hopefully come to a positive conclusion," claimed managing director Mark Maguire.

"We'll reward Jim as much as possible within the constraints of the club as we did last season and we look forward to doing that in the coming years."
