Hatters forced to sell Rowe

The administrators of cash-strapped Stockport County have revealed that they had to sanction the sale of talented winger Tommy Rowe to Peterborough United.

The 20-year-old had scored 13 goals in 85 appearances for the Hatters, but has now headed to London Road for an undisclosed fee.

A statement from administrators Leonard Curtis read: "Given the club's perilous financial position, this sale has been necessary to raise the funds which will be required to pay ongoing critical trading costs, including wages.

"A number of expressions of interest in the club have been made to Leonard Curtis and some very positive preliminary discussions have already taken place.

"We remain confident that significant progress can be made and we wish Tommy every success at his new club."

Meanwhile, striker Oli Johnson and centre-back Josh Thompson have both been handed trials by West Bromwich Albion.
