Hatters edge seven-goal thriller

Published: 27 Feb 2010 - 18:05:42

George Donnelly scored twice, while Jamal Johnson and Richard Partridge grabbed one apiece to seemingly seal victory for County. But Wanderers launched an impressive fightback, a Matt Phillips double and an Owain Fon Williams own goal ensuring a nervy finish. Partridge slotted the opener, capitalising on a goalmouth scramble to score from Johnson's corner and County doubled their lead just a minute later when Donnelly lashed home. Johnson added a third soon after the break, cutting in from the right flank to fire a left-foot bullet into the far corner before Ibehre squared for Donnelly to double his own tally. But Wycombe almost rescued a lost cause as Phillips fired home Matt Harrold's cross on 67 minutes and then nodded in a corner to cut the gap. Jon Paul Pittman's cross was diverted into his own net by Owain Fon Williams five minutes from time but County held on.
