Stockport County have brought winger Kevin Ellison back to the club for a second spell, initially on loan from Chester City.
The 28-year-old spent three years with the Hatters between 2001 and 2004, before heading off for spells with Chester City, Hull City and Tranmere Rovers.
Ellison rejoined the Blues at the start of the current campaign, but has headed back to Edgeley Park, with a permanent switch set up for next summer.
Hatters boss Jim Gannon told the club's official website: "Kevin is an outstanding athlete. He's very, very competitive with great mental strength.
"He's also a very skilful player who can play on the flanks or up top.
"He's the perfect type of attacking midfielder that we wanted, because he can play anywhere across the front four. I'm delighted to be able to bring him in."
